Alaska Commercial Electronics (ACE) was started in 1986 by Jerry Whitethorn and Richard Tamblin. In 1994 we built our own building in Petersburg from which we continue to operate today.
During our 30 year history we have prided ourselves in providing professional commercial electronics sales and services. From industrial control systems to fish finding equipment to electronics manufacturing, ACE has been at the forefront bringing state of the art electronic systems to South East Alaska.
For over 30 years we have sold and supported the finest names in Marine Electronics inculding Furuno, Icom, Simrad, Comnav and many more. We are proud to be part of South East Alaska's dynamic and incredibly successful fishing fleet. A fleet that travels and is respected all over the west coast from California to the Aleutians. At ACE we understand that with short fishing openings and often hostile conditions, reliable equipment is a must and should it fail, timely repair is essential.
On shore, ACE designed and installed electronic control and monitoring systems for water treatment, power, and sewer treatment plants. From our solar powered mountain top radio repeater site we provided wireless remote control to an inaccessible hydro-electric plant and rural telephone service for residents living in the bush long before cell phones became available.
In 1994 we designed and built the Watch Clock, the first microprocessor based vessel watch alarm, of which many are still working after 23 years of continuous use.
In 2001, for family reasons, Richard left Alaska and for 16 years worked for Radar Marine in Bellingham, WA. During that time he traveled extensively to boat builders all over the west coast and installed fish finding and navigation systems on many of the boats built by Fred Wahl, Van Peer, Platypus, and Delta.
In 2017, ACE was purchased by Eric Rosvold, a local fisherman and owner of the two hi tech 58 ft combi vessels, F/V Intangible & F/V Adamant. At the same time Rich returned to live in Petersburg and is happy to be working again with Jerry.
With our many decades of combined experience, we are able to meet all of your marine electronic needs, no matter how great or small. From a simple GPS plotter/sounder for your sport boat or seine skiff, to complete integrated wheelhouse navigation system for your new wide bodied 58 ft combi. We provided superior local service to get you up and running with minimum down time.
If you are planning to build a new vessel or retrofit an old one we will help you select and then provide you with the most appropriate equipment. We can then provide professional installation by our skilled technicians whether in Alaska or anywhere on the west coast.
Under new ownership, ACE is excited to be able to once again offer the same superior sales and services that we have provided for over 30 years.
